God cares for all life on earth. Guru Ji gives us some examples.
The flamingoes fly hundreds of miles, leaving their young ones behind. Who feeds them, and who teaches them to feed themselves? Have you ever thought of this in your mind? || 3 || (page 11)
God cares for all beings at all times. The deepest that human beings have dug is 200 metres into solid rock. Even here, they were surprised to find life. Guru Ji had told us this hundreds of years ago.
|| RAAG GOOJAREE, FIFTH MEHL: Why, O mind, do you plot and plan, when the Dear Lord Himself provides for your care? From rocks and stones He created living beings; He places their nourishment before them. || 1 || (page 10)
All life on earth is interconnected. Ten years ago, there was an Earth Summit in 1992 to protect the earth from pollution. There is a second one this year. Guru Ji tells us that,
SHALOK: Air is the Guru, Water is the Father, and Earth is the Great Mother of all. Day and night are the two nurses, in whose lap all the world is at play. Good deeds and bad deeds—the record is read out in the Presence of the Lord of Dharma. According to their own actions, some are drawn closer, and some are driven farther away. Those who have meditated on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and departed after having worked by the sweat of their brows—O Nanak, their faces are radiant in the Court of the Lord, and many are saved along with them! || 1 || (8)
If Earth is our mother, all species on earth are connected. The destiny of each one affects the destiny of the others. For humans, our key element is free will. We have choices. Our focus will determine where we end up before God.
