The turban is an aspect of bana Sikh dress that disturbs many people.

This is because during the death experience and the time between lives souls experience even if only for a fleeting moment the spiritual world and their primordial spiritual nature which is full of love, bliss and compassion or the jivan mukht nature. In the spiritual world they see beings some call angels, devas, liberated souls who wear turbans and have beards. They are celestial beings or devis engaged in service between the realms of the material world and come from the spiritual world. They are ever engaged in kirtan.

Bana is also like the radiant form jot saroop the soul assumes when it is experiencing it's soul or atma-darshan in the post death period. These souls all to often venting the negative reaction caused by their deep regret of their inability to make the spiritual choice because of material conditioning and failure to develop transcendental ras or taste for things spiritual such as the Nam and as a result of this negativity they manifest a profoundly hostile attitude towards turbans. This raging negativity flows from their deep sub-conscious remembrances of those experiences in their countless past lives and reincarnations. It is symptomatic of their rejection of spiritual life and the resultant suffering, as well as their inability to get out of this situation because of being trapped by their over-whelming desires. They are trapped by their bad karma and material desires.

The turban reminds them of having to make a choice that will leave their material desires unfulfilled and they rage at the thought of unfulfilled desires. It is a very deep sub-conscious thing. Basically to use another explanation they choose the dark side choosing life forms to continue their material pleasures and sufferings.

When they encounter a turban person who has the Nam and the grace of the Guru in their aura they manifest those karmic traces again and are negative towards us. We must be compassionate towards them if possible. It is often very unreasonable behavior and almost like a venting volcanic rage. In Vedic or Traditional Indian terms they are described Asuras, rakshas or demons.

They live on meat, intoxicants and have uncontrolled sex lives and their entertainment is sexual and violent. They have no direct relationship with God. They consciously or unconsciously do everything to stop us and humiliate us.

These incarnated beings are some of the non Homo-Sapien forms in the human family. In the SGGS it says there are 8.4 million types of lives,

400,000 of those are humanlike or conscious beings all the way from humanoid, such as Neanderthal man, the humanlike species that disappeared, to the devas or gods. It also includes fairies, spirits and other such beings. Not all of these make the Vedic standard for Human, but some are above humans such as devas. Humans eat human diet, no meat, fish, and eggs, have regulated sex lives, don't take intoxicants, keep the human form [Kesh] and engage in spiritual practice sadhana.

The Asuras (Sanskrit/Punjabii) on the other hand are a group of power-seeking souls, sometimes referred to as demons. They are opposed to the devas, the gods and the pure devotees or Khalsas. The Devas and Asuras are engaged in continuous war with each on all levels. The Holy Name is the main weapon of the Devotees-Khalsas in this time period, but bana Gurus dress is also one as well. Bana causes the demons clear these karmic traces often violently, and aids in the process of purification of both the wearer and those who see them. It is ultimately a form of the Guru's compassion.

We should react as compassionately as possible, following the Guru's examples. We should always say the Holy Nam such as Sat Nam to them in an attempt to re-awaken their authentic compassionate, blissful ,eternal nature. The power of the Nam is the power of the presence of Akal Purakhji-God.

The asuras want to enjoy a life of sense gratification, even at the cost of others' happiness. In order to fulfill this ambition, the asuras, especially atheistic kings or state executive heads, try to equip themselves with all kinds of deadly weapons to bring about a war in a peaceful society.

They have violent minds. They have no ambition other than personal aggrandizement, and thus mother earth feels overburdened by such undue increases of military strength. By increase of the asuric population, those who follow the principles of religion become unhappy, especially the devotees, or devas. The demons facilitate the killing of peaceful animals, make stronger and stronger intoxicants and fill the society with sexual passion on all levels through passionate violent entertainment, dress, culture, abortion etc.

There are two classes of human beings, namely the envious and the obedient. Since Akal Purakh, the Supreme Lord, is One [Ekong Kar] and the father of all living beings, the envious living beings are also His/Her sons, but they are known as the asuras. But the living beings who are have a relationship with Akal Purakh The Supreme Personality, Parent, Creator, are called devas, or demigods, because they are not contaminated or don't want to be contaiminated by the material conception of life. Not only are the asuras envious of the Lord in even denying the existence of the Lord, but also they are also envious of all other living beings. The predominance of asuras in the world is occasionally rectified by the Lord when He eliminates them from the world and establishes a rule of devas. This he is doing by the mission of Khalsa and other pure devotees spreading the pure Holy Name to defeat and rid beings of demoniac consciousness.

Guru Gobind Singh's mission as described in Bachitar Natak is to teach the Dharma and destroy the tyrants.

Hum eh kaj jagat mo ae dharam het gur dev pathae jahan tahan tum dharam bitharo dusht dokhian pakar pachharo

For this purpose I came into this world. God sent me for the sake of Dharma.

Where ever you are spread Dharma. Root out the oppressors and the wicked, and extirpating all tyrants.

From Bachitar Natak in the Dasam Granth of Guru Gobind Singh

This is the same mission of all the Avatars as described by Krishna in the Bhagavad-Gita Text 4.7-8

Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I Myself appear, millennium after millennium.

The missions of Bhagwan Krishna and Bhagwan Rama in previous eras-yugas and the Sikh Gurus in this Yuga are one and the same; to spread the dharma and destroy the demons. The Sikh Gurus are both the physical and spiritual descendants of Bhagwan Krishna and Bhagwan Rama. The primary weapon is the Holy Name that transforms demoniac consciousness reviving their consciousness to it's original nature or Sat Nam.

As we the Khalsa are the form of the Guru [Guru-Rupa] we too are continuing this mission. We do not have to seek out the demons they find us, both those asuras who know they need help and those who don't. People often miraculously show in yoga class or Gurdwara. Just as the Sikh Gurus started out peacefully and ended up physically fighting these asuras demons that too happens to us on a daily basis, with turban harrasment.

Just last night I had someone rage at me at a bookstore and when he was restrained he said '' I don't know why I did that''. Just another example of karmic traces venting by stimulation of the deep sub-conscious mind upon seeing a turban. The form of the Guru [Guru-Roop] or bana always attracts the devotees and the demons.

Nowadays the Lord is present in the form of the Holy Name. Those who have the Holy Name in their auras and being, ang sung Waheguru, spark these karmic tendencies deep in the samsaric minds of these people and it bursts out. Some are even more devious and devise plans to minimize us all on a very sub conscious level. Demons are often attracted to the government so as to facilitate their program and desires.

The Asuras are not devils in the Christian sense but fallen sentient being who can be saved. I was born in an Asuric society addicted to meat, intoxicants filled violent society constantly at war. All my most recent ancestors fought in insanely violent wars amongst the asuras. These wars are caused by the violence in their minds and the karmic results of the slaughterhouse civilization they continue to build. Our society is full of these slaughter houses that even now PETA says meat eating is the most significant factor in global warming. The demons will destroy the Earth with their unending desires and lack of devotion to Bhumi-Mata mother Earth.

The Guru's emissary, Yogi Bhajan, saved myself and many others from this hellish existence and engaged me in the war against the asuras and their society in accordance with the Guru desire. This is the ultimate compassion.

This is the mission of the pure devotees Khalsas and other saintly persons. All over the world the demons and their false religions are attacking the devotees. The demons often wear turbans as well to deceive the devotees with a poor fund of knowledge. India is constantly being attacked by demons from Pakistan and atheistic demons seized the government of India and attacked the Golden Temple and they suffered the karmic reaction from offending Guru Sahib's embassy of the spiritual world. How do you tell the demon dharmas from those of the devas? The demons are eating meat, fish, eggs, taking intoxicants, unregulated sex and do not have a spiritual practice such as meditating chanting on the Holy Name. They violently attack other religions and think that only they are God's children. They also seek to seize control of society and use it to promulgate their violent religious ideas. Some people are engaged in some of the basic human dharma principles but not others as this is the negative influence creeping into some dharmas.

To be engaged in this fight is to give direct purifying service to Guru Sahib and be merged in Guruji's Hukam. This is the highest service.

Establishing Sikh Dharma amidst the slaughterhouse civilization will be difficult but we are well armed with the Holy Nam and the teachings of the Sikh Gurus as explained so nicely by Yogiji.
