Simran Kaur and Mota Singh were travelling through the city on the tube subway. Simran Kaur was studying the map to get her bearings and choose which tube subway connection to make when Mota Singh pushed the map out of her hands and threw it onto the track.
She looked at him. He issued his famous challenge: "Don't do anything, or I'll flatten you like a roti!"
She walked off and tried to remember what she had studied. He saw a tube and jumped on it.
She put into action what she had remembered. He carried on changing trains at every stop.
She arrived home. He had lost himself, was hungry, miserable, and started crying.

Japji Sahib moves through verses beginning "gaavai", then "sunnai", then "mannai". First, join the Guru through keertan - you must learn to love the Guru. Then, listen to the Guru. Let your mind be quiet and take it in. Listening is allowing new information to get into your head. Think about the new information. Don't let it fly out the other ear! Then, you can obey it - put it into action. The Guru is there to help you, to prevent you getting lost in the underground subway of the mind, and the underground subway of life.
